Commodities Task Force: Sixth Meeting

Published in
CEPS - Centre for European Policy Studies 1 Place du Congrès / Congresplein 1000 Brussels

The task force on commodities price formation held its sixth and last meeting on market and regulatory issues on 10 February 2012. Great attention was paid to the objectives that should lead policy-making actions on commodities markets. It was felt that the need to understand drivers of greater volatility in the last decade must be balanced against acknowledging the positive impact of future markets in areas where price formation used to be penalised by inefficient and costly market structures. A final meeting was held on 16 March 2012 to reconsider the key conclusions of the past six meetings and discuss a detailed outline of the final report that will be presented in the second quarter of 2012.
