Task Force on Asset Allocation in Europe

Published in:

Many factors – changing economic/financial conditions, evolving demographics, market fragmentation risks, regulatory and technological developments, and new political priorities – will impact asset allocation in the coming years. From a policy perspective, the capacity of CMU to contribute to the resilience of our societies should certainly be given more thoughtful consideration once the current health crisis subsides.

MAIN OBJECTIVE

The purpose of this Task Force was to explore meaningful ways of activating long-term savings and investment channels across the EU, with a focus on households, asset/fund managers, insurers and pension funds, under the overarching theme of sustainability in the real economy.

ORGANISATION

Chairman:           Jean-Pierre Pinatton, Member of the Supervisory Board, ODDO BHF

Rapporteur:         Cosmina Amariei, Researcher, ECMI and CEPS (Financial Markets and Institutions)

A set of sound and clear principles has guided the entire proceedings in order to preserve an impartial approach to divergent opinions. This Task Force was stuctured around dedicated meetings (panel debates, roundtable discussions, presentations, workshop). Interim reports were published after each meeting and targeted bilateral consultations/reviews and in-depth research were conducted in parallel. In addition, a series of debates on sustainable finance was organised separately from the main Task Force.

This Task Force was supported by an independent research agenda. The Chairman steered the dialogue among the various stakeholders in a constructive manner and approved the publication of the Final Report. The content of the report should be attributed solely to the Rapporteur. The external experts participated in their personal capacity and may not necessarily endorse the report in its entirety or subscribe to the full list of recommendations and/or overall conclusions.
